FEBRUARY'S NEWS - Nick McCormack 'cancels' the DHST supporter-representation on the football committee
Mick O'Shaughnessy, the elected supporters' representative since 2003, was forced to resign his position on the football committee after club director, Nick McCormack, informed him that he was no longer prepared to accept DHST at the table.
Although Nick McCormack offered the token gesture of continuing his place on the committee in an individual capacity, DHST felt the position was no longer tenable and fully backed Mick's decision to resign. The DHST board has issued a statement on the matter:
'It seems a shame that Nick McCormack has resorted to this measure. The football committee, and by extension the football club, will now be weakened by the fact that the club's key stakeholders, the supporters, no longer have a democratically elected voice in matters concerning the day-to-day running of the club.
Supporters are the lifeblood of any football club - they are the club's customers, they pay for tickets, buy merchandise and provide unstinting support to the players on the field week in week out, so their views should be key to any body taking the key management decisions. Sadly this point has been missed.'
Since the announcement in February the DHST board has tried to contact Nick McCormack in an effort to get him to reconsider this action, but there has been no response.
